October 5, 1955 – November 24, 2020
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Neil Venables of Kamloops, BC. After a very short battle with cancer he is no longer suffering. In spite of his severe pain his “FAITH” remained strong. Dave was surrounded by his loving family as we celebrated his Heavenly Graduation. Truly a treasure In Heaven. We “ALL” look forward to seeing him again. Dave will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Valerie, his daughter Rachelle Dudley (Steve), his son Shayne Venables (Blair), his grandsons Dylan and Devin Dudley, his brother Bruce Venables (Maureen), and brothers-in-law, Bob Riley (Teresa), Allan Riley (Sharmeen), and Rick Riley (Kathy). Dave will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, co-workers and friends.
Dave was born in Powell River, where he grew up and eventually met the love of his life. Dave and Valerie were married May 28, 1980 then shortly after moved to Logan Lake with their children. After the mine shut down Dave pursued his passion to work with people and chose the food industry. He got hired by Overwaitea Foods, now known as Save-On, in 1985. After receiving his award for 35 years of service at Save On Foods, Dave still held a great passion for the produce department, his colleagues and customers.
While attending Kamloops Full Gospel Tabernacle he served as an Elder and Worship Pastor for a number of years. His church family at KFGT became an integral part of his life. Dave and Valerie grew in their Faith together and were always thankful that they had the privilege to minister as a team. They led various bible studies in their home and coached successful marriage ministry classes and events. Dave independently led the KFGT Men’s Ministry for a number of years, while also serving on the board of Opportunity Missions. This allowed him the privilege of travelling to Guatemala twice with two different mission teams. A piece of his heart was left in Guatemala.
Dave was loved by so many and will be truly missed. He was a role model as a Husband, Dad, Grampa, Co-Worker, Friend, and Mentor. We would like to thank Dr. Peter Loland and all the wonderful staff of 5 South for all their kindness and care.
When it is safe to do so we will hold a “Celebration of Life” in Dave’s honor.
