David (Dave) Gwynnedd Owen

Posted Nov 20, 2025 | 12:57 PM

December 24, 1948 – November 8, 2025

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of David Owen, who left us far too soon at the age of 76. Though his short and wholly unexpected battle with cancer came as a shock, he faced it with the same courage, humour, and strength that defined his entire life.

David embraced the world with the curiosity and enthusiasm of an explorer and reminded all those around him that life is meant to be appreciated. David was the first to lend a hand, to share a thoughtful word, and to insist upon viewing the world with rose-coloured glasses. Though his time with us was cut tragically short, the impact of his kindness, his loyalty, and his buoyant optimism will live on within the hearts of family and friends.

David is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cheryl, his son Richard, daughter-by-choice, Laura, brother Peter (Annette) in New Zealand, sisters Christine and Jan (Bruce), nephew Daniel and niece Jacqueline, and step-children Arienne (Rusty) and Ryan (Bren-Ann), as well as grandchildren Jaxon, Ben, Talia, Gavin, Tristan, Aria and Mattea, in addition to Ashley, Brandyn and Chelsea through Laura.

He is predeceased by his parents Rosemary and Gwynnedd, and stepson Jesse.

David will be celebrated in a small gathering of family and close friends in Chase, B.C. on November 22.

You may offer a message of condolence at Cypress Funeral and Cremation Services for the Owen family.
