June 8, 1961 – February 7, 2021
On February 7th, 2021, Daniel William Smith lost his very short battle to cancer at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 8th, 1961, in Vancouver BC and lived a very adventurous life in many places throughout the province before calling Barriere his home.
Dan was predeceased by his mother Irene Hambly, father Terrance Mcquillan, and brother Patrick Smith.
Dan leaves behind his loving wife Lindell, daughters Charlene (Brad), Lorranne (Matt), Krista, and son Bryan. Also survived by his in-laws Bob and Arlene, stepparents Bert (Helen), Norma, Ron, and siblings Susan (Dave), Dennis (Dale), Kim (Elaine), William (Sherry), Robert (Petra), Tanis and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Dan was loved by everyone who met him. His infectious smile would light up any room he walked in to, and good luck ever finding him without one.
Dan was a Millwright by trade and in later years settled down to run the family farm. Dan was adored by many of his neighbors and was always the first one there to help when needed.
Dan had many hobbies, but the hobby he enjoyed the most was racing. Dan met many people during his racing days that started out friends and became his family. He was a gentleman and a trickster always there to lend a hand to anyone, which is why he was voted most sportsman like male driver of 2019.
It is with a very heavy heart that we send Dan off with his final checkered flag. Rest easy #53, get a head start on that racetrack in the sky.
