September 11, 1947 – June 15, 2017
It is with sad hearts that we announce the death of Wade Arthur Crawford on June 15, 2017 in Kamloops BC. The loss of this faithful, honest, hardworking – husband, father, grandfather and friend is mourned by countless people.
Wade was born on Sept. 11, 1947 in Cadomin, Alberta to Art and Frieda Crawford. The oldest child of 6, he was part of a family that was well known in the coal branch and Hinton area. The Crawford’s moved to Hinton in 1956, working on the construction of the pulp mill and the building of the Hinton community.
Wade attended Mountain View School and graduated from Harry Collinge High School in 1966. He married Verna, the love of his life on October 16, 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta. With their two daughters, Christine and Daintry they returned to Hinton in 1974. Their family grew with two more sons as Clayton and Dustin joined the clan. Living in Hinton for 36 years they lived on Erith Drive and later he bought his childhood home on Sherwood Drive where they stayed until 2010. In 2010 Wade and Verna moved to Kamloops BC to be near their children and grandchildren. They developed many good friendships in Kamloops and in their congregation. Wade and Verna’s lives have been full of good memories made with great friends.
Wade’s reputation as a Journeyman Communication Electrician for EdTel, AGT and Weldwood was unmatched. He was also well known, loved and respected in the community among his schoolmates, workmates and neighbors as an active Jehovah’s Witness. He always endeavored to share his beliefs and encourage others with the positive message from the Bible.
Wade truly loved the mountains, especially in the fall when the rich autumn colors accentuated some of his favorite pastimes – hunting, stream fishing and camping. His ‘happiest’ places always involved family, friends and the outdoors.
The bible says “A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth”. At the end of a man’s life, you can take the measure of that man, by his accomplishments, reputation and the long list of those who mourn his passing. Based upon these, Wade was a wonderful man.
Wade is survived by his wife Verna, daughters Daintry (Brian) and Christine, sons Clayton (Aimee) and Dustin (Bobbie). He has 2 grandsons and 5 granddaughters and 2 great grandchildren.
The memorial for Wade will be held on July 1, 2017 in Kamloops, BC at the family ranch – 7408 Westsyde Road, Kamloops, BC at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to come and pay their respects. Notes or letters can be sent to vernacrawford4@outlook.com
