November 25, 1930 – April 21, 2017
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Husband, Dad, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather Marvin Alexander Crawford. Marv died on April 21, 2017 at the age of 86 with his caring family by his side in Kamloops, BC.
Marvin was born in Lanigan Sask. Nov 25, 1930 and took his schooling in Swift Current. That is where he met his life long friend, Jim Ashby.
Marv worked for Saskatchewan Telephone before he moved to BC where he logged with Bloedel Stewart and Welch.
In 1949 he moved to Kamloops and he met his wife Elisabeth “Bep”. They were married for 64 years.
Marv worked with the CN for 40 years, retiring as a conductor in 1989.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bep: son, Murray (Ann) and daughter, Anne (Barry). Marv was very proud of his five grandchildren: Leah (Ryan); Mark (Kathleen); Michael (Erica); Daniel (Stephanie); Patrick (Alex), and two great grandchildren Reese and Diem.
He was predeceased by his 3 brothers Earl, Howard and Bob.
Marv will be remembered as a true gentleman, a kind and generous man with a great laugh, a good sense of humor, and for his amazing bear hugs. He became an honorary uncle or second father to many and made everyone who visited his home feel comfortable and safe.
His message to his family and friends “Shed no tears for me, I know we shall meet again”.
Thank you to the physicians and the nursing staff on 4N for their professionalism and genuine caring; a special thanks to Dr. Campsall and Madison.
A funeral will be held at Kamloops United Church 421 St. Paul St. on Saturday, April 29th at 11:00 am, reception to follow.
No flowers by request. Donations in memory of Marv to the Kamloops United Church would be appreciated.
