It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Frances Hazelwood, a vibrant women whose zest for life touched all who knew her. Connie passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 28, 2025, in Kamloops BC.
Connie was born on January 22, 1961 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, The Family moved to Williams Lake, BC, then moved to Drayton Valley, AB and they settled in Kamloops, BC. Connie in her grade 12 school year moved back to Drayton Valley to live with her aunt and uncle Janzen to work at the movie theatre. Connie eventually moved back to Kamloops with her mom and dad where she got a job working at New Afton Mine with her father Frank, there she met her soon to be husband Ivan. Connie and Ivan went to live in Princeton, BC and didn’t live there for long before moving to Penticton BC where they had Trenton and Justin. Their last and final move was to Kamloops BC, where they built their house and had Shyla. Connie started her career as a hairdresser, she worked at various shops and ended her working career at Blowfish Hair Studio, making friends that lasted a lifetime.
An avid sports enthusiast, Connie was always up for the challenge, whether it was hitting the slopes on her skis, gliding across the water on her skis, or taking on the running trails. Her energy was infectious and her enthusiasm for new experiences was unmatched. Whether bowling, paddling, or simply enjoying the great outdoors, Connie embraced every adventure with her signature spirit.
Connie was the life of the party, always ready to make new memories and share a laugh. Her presence could light up any room, and she had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Above all, she will be remembered for her boundless love for those closest to her and the countless joyful moments she brought into the lives of family and friends.
Connie was invested in her children and was heavily involved with the schools PAC where she met her group of lifelong friends. In 2012 Connie battled breast cancer and got introduced to the Spirit Warriors Dragon Boat Team, where she joined a sisterhood of breast cancer survivors.
Connie retired early and was looking forward to watching her grandchild Harper. Connie ended her battle with Frontotemporal Dementia.
Connie is survived by her husband Ivan, her children Curtis, Trent, Justin (Arina), Shyla (Cody) and her cherished grandchildren, Liam, Keira, Harper, Olivia and Carter. Her sisters, Raylene, Stacy and Angela. She is preceded in death by her parents Kathrine and Frank Phipps.
For those who wish to pay their respects by viewing may do so at 12 pm on Saturday,
February 8, 2025 in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street.
A Celebration of Connie’s life will follow in the Chapel at 1 pm.
There will be a time for fellowship and refreshments after.
We would like to thank the staff at Ponderosa Long Term Care Facility and Dr Sigalet for continued care for Connie throughout the years.
Her spirit of adventure, love and laughter will remain with us forever. Rest in peace, Connie. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
