Cleveland, Clara Margaret

1922 – 2016
It is with sad hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Clara Margaret Cleveland at 94 years of age. Her husband John Adair Cleveland predeceased her in 1995.
She is survived by her children Norman (Lynn) of Kamloops, Robert (Teresa) of Kamloops, predeceased by her sons Leonard in 1997 and James in 2010. She is survived by grandchildren Mickey (Laura) their children, Gwen and Robbie of Victoria, Martin (Kassy) and their children Ashley, Brooke and Hailey of Kelowna, Krista (Russell) Nowicki and their sons Thomas and Anthony of Kamloops, Marcia (Trevor) Dick and daughters, Elianna and Sasha of Kamloops, and Jennifer also of Kamloops, Jamie and son Jax, Ashley (David) Gore and former wife Denise of Kamloops, Robert (Teresa) and son David (Laura) of Lavington, daughter Kristina (Ryan) Bedard and their son Beckham of Vernon.
Born and raised in a Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan the daughter of Christian Meyers and Anna Prokosh. Clara was one of seven siblings. She moved to Vancouver in 1940 and was employed as a housekeeper. There she met John and was married in 1942. They moved to Penticton, then Kimberly and finally settled in Kamloops in 1952. Clara was involved in activities at OLPH including being a president of the CWL in the 1960s and a cub-master . She was an avid gardener and a very competitive bowler. Her main love in life was music. Clara played guitar, organ and piano. Many will remember her favorite tune “Good Night Irene” which she played daily in her later years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 635 Tranquille Road. Fr. Paul Simms officiating. Refreshments will be in the OLPH Church Hall following Mass. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom’s name to The Canadian Diabetes Association or the MS Society.
