May 15, 1934 – July 18, 2022
Surrounded by a room full of love, Cleo Bielfeldt passed away on the morning of Monday, July 18th. Tiny but tough, Cleo was resilient, adorably chatty, sassy but sweet, and just so cute. She looked lovely in red – matching her rosy cheeks and bright lipstick. Cleo was known for her colourful patterns and bright floral outfits, she was always classy and well-put-together, but if you caught her in the garden, you’d see her in dirty knees and gardening gloves.
Kurt and Cleo took an empty lot and designed their award-winning gardens together and transformed it into a park-like oasis you’d have to see to believe. Cleo spent every day in her garden nurturing her flowers and you could never find a single weed. A creative at heart, Cleo scratch-made beautiful baked goods, and she was known for her mocha and black forest cakes, peach tortes, and every other delicious treat you could imagine. She was a gracious host and loved hosting parties and socializing. She had many genuine, long (and long-distance) friendships, and she loved her family like nothing else.
Over the years, she was always thrilled to see her “two girls” together; she was the heart of the family and she brought out the best in us. She loved her family more than anything, and her kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren could always count on the rapid cheek kisses from Grandma, along with a freezer full of popsicles during a swim break in their pool.
The 65-year romance with her husband Kurt was more special than can be put into words. Connected since day one; much like the waltz they used to awe onlookers with, their life flowed together with an ease that people rarely are able to find in their lifetime.
Her love for her family extended to her animals – and all animals. The family could always count on getting an SPCA calendar at Christmas, and every puppy on the street could always expect a quick heart-to-heart.
A strong little soul until the end, Cleo spent her last year making new friends at Overlander Extended Care with her husband Kurt faithfully by her side, and many family and friends visiting her often. Those looking after her shared that it was an honour to have met her, and they gave her a beautiful sendoff and farewell as she left.
We will always have fond memories of her sweet signature two-handed wave and blown kisses.
While there will be no service, the family requests that you honour Cleo by visiting or donating to your local SPCA or BC Wildlife Park.
Condolences may be expressed to the family at Alternatives Funeral & Cremation.
