August 21, 1953 — August 9, 2023
Our beloved husband, father and brother Chris passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023 in Kamloops, B.C.
Chris is survived by his loving wife Lori and son Keiran, daughter Lisa, grandson Harrison (Kim), great-granddaughter Ophelia and Chris’ master Max (the cat). As well he is survived by his brothers Eric (Martine), Don (Lynn) and sister Diane (George), his brother-in-law Rick (Therese), sisters-in-law Nancy, Kathy, Marion (Clancy), Terry (Dave), Janice and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Chris was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Dorothy Rutherford , his sister-in-law Lenore Rutherford, his parents-in-law, Donald and Marjorie Lynds, his brothers-in-law, Randy Lynds and Roger Clow and niece Mikaela Masnyk Desloges Launspach.
Chris was born and raised in Kirkland Lake, ON. Chris embarked on a career in journalism which led him to Ottawa. Chris was known as a wordsmith and punster. He had a quick wit and love of the pun. He became a secretary to several MP’s on Parliament Hill.
Chris had a summer job as a satellite installer and fell off a roof and hurt his back. He was so impressed by the level of care of the x-ray technician that he went to Lakeshore College in Thunder Bay to become an x-ray tech himself. This job led him to Thompson, MB and to the love of his life, Lori.
A job for Veteran’s Affairs led Chris back to his hometown of Kirkland Lake. He loved this job as it was reminiscent of talking to his dad everyday and he really missed his Dad.
The next chapter led Chris, Lori and Keiran to Kamloops, B.C. where Chris resided until his passing. He worked for Service Canada.
Once he retired, Chris and Lori fell in love with Llano Grande, Texas and spent their winters there enjoying the sun, the pool, the birds, the culture and the food.
Chris was a lifetime learner, full of curiosity about everything from ancient aliens to politics, to fun facts about cats, to buried treasure, to hockey, to everything. He even took a course on robotics before robotics was cool.
By Chris’ request a funeral will not be held but a Celebration of Life Come and Go Tea will be held on Monday, August 14th from 1-3 p.m. at Schoening Funeral Home, 513 Seymour Street, Kamloops B.C. Chris would like everyone to wear Hawaiian shirts and shorts or something in a bright colour.
