December 6, 1930 – October 17, 2016
Dad passed October 17, 2016 near the stroke of midnight on that rarest of evenings when the earth, moon, and sun were in perfect alignment. It took all the pull of the cosmos for Dad to leave us.
Dad was a fighter and fought a valiant battle against Alzheimer’s for almost a decade. Alzheimer’s did not define Dad and he is remembered as a man passionate about life, devoted to his family and generous with his time and love. He was a hardworking man and inspired his family. We enjoyed his sharp wit and his quirky sense of humour.
Dad was born December 6, 1930 in La Glace, Alberta to Inga and Lars Christianson. Having been raised during the Great Depression and WWII; shaped his core values and the man he became. As a young man he worked at the family sawmill in Prince George where he developed a life- long passion for wood manufacturing.
In 1950, he moved with his family to Kamloops where he met “the prettiest girl I had ever seen”. He and his loving wife Enes were married for 64 years. She was his rock.
Dad spent 36 years with Weyerhaeuser Canada leading its operations in Kamloops, Lumby, and Merritt and prior to retirement serving as the director of solid wood manufacturing for the company. He was highly regarded in the wood industry in British Columbia.
Dad is survived by his wife Enes, daughters Beverly (Ken) Warner and Brenda Christianson, and son Brian (Tracy) Christianson. Grandchildren Kenny, Tara, Ryan, Jordan, Tanner, and Aren. Great grandchildren, Leena, Avery, Findlay, Luca, Ella, and Lawson. Sister Ethel Fowles, and brother Chris (Gerry-Lou) Christianson.
A celebration of life for Dad will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 am at Schoening Funeral Chapel in Kamloops, BC.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Dad.
