September 26, 1940 – February 7, 2016
On February 7, 2016 after a short battle with liver cancer, Norm peacefully continued on his journey. Survived by his loving wife Marne, daughters Katherine and Dana, sons (in law) John and Steven, grandsons Connor and Jake, sister Lucille and brother (in law) Dave, sister (in law) Lorill, nieces Jill, Rylee, and Lani, nephews Lee and Brian, and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Norm was born in Calgary AB, and grew up on his family’s farm in Cloverdale, BC. In the 1960’s he travelled around the world with his best friend Earl. Along the way he made many friends and memories and then forced everyone to watch slideshows of his travels for years after. In 1973 he met Marne and together they raised their daughters in North Delta. He was a skilled mechanic working a number of years at Scott Gray Esso. He later worked at Lansdowne Dodge in Richmond and retired to Logan Lake in 2002.
An avid hunter, fisherman, and snowmobiler, he loved the outdoors and the mountains.
Norm was a very unique man. He was loud and always had a story or joke to tell – even to a complete stranger. He was the “Skookum Mechanic” and a general Mr. Fix-it. While he seemed rough on the outside he had a kind heart and would do anything for those he loved. He will be missed but will remain in our hearts forever because of the love and memories he created. We hope you found what you were looking for Norm.
At Norm’s request there will be no service, however, a celebration of life will take place in the summer. Information will be sent out in a few months to those who were a part of Norm’s life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden hospice in Kamloops.
