Finding the words to honour a loved one and sum up the impact of a life well lived, all while in the midst of one’s own grief, is a serious and difficult task. Yet here we are facing this difficult task.
The family of Carol Dorion with heavy hearts announce her passing.
Obituaries are, in many ways, the final word in the story of our life. It can list our key accomplishments, give one last symbolic hug to the people most important to us, or… it can be used to shape our legacy with one last symbolic exclamation point. The words that are being used to describe Carol have been a special lady, kind and supportive, biggest of hearts and compassionate.
The truth, or her version of it, is this: I just tried to do the best I could. Sometimes I succeeded, sometimes I failed, but I tried. For all of my crazy comments, jokes and complaints, I really did love you all. We can still hear her laugh ringing in our ears, or if we confessed to a story that she wasn’t aware of we can still hear her voice go to a higher pitch voice saying, “You did What!”
She will be greatly missed by Brendon, son Darrin (Deb), and daughter Donna (Ryan) Hall.
We would like to thank Ralf & Myrna Proctor for watching out for Darrin and Brendon, Wes & Carol Ramage for all you do, Bev Crozier, Dora Mac Quarrie, and Cheryle Munson your names were always on her lips. We know there are more of you that haven’t been named just know we are very thankful for you and so was she.
Carol was predeceased by her son Clayton back on May 17, 2022. This was a huge loss for Carol and the family that one never overcomes.
There will be no formal service. We ask if you desire to get together with your friends or family and say cheers in her name. Hug others as she would, support one and other as she would.
There were no buildings named after her; no monuments erected in her honor, and we can imagine her saying there should be under her breath. But SHE DID have the chance to know and love each and every friend as well as all her family members. How much more blessed can a person be?
If you want to, you can look for her in the evening sunset or with the earliest sunrise or amongst the flitting and fluttering butterflies. You know she’ll be there in one form or another.
Of course, that will probably comfort some while antagonizing others, but you if you know her… she would think that is funny.
Rest easy dear lady.
