1931 – 2017
Dad was born in Brandon, Manitoba on December 23, 1931. He went to be with his Lord and Savior February 6, 2017. Dad passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
A true athlete, he ran the Don Busch Hockey School for 15 years and ran seven marathons. He coached hockey for six seasons in Europe and had time with the Flin Flon Bombers. From 1953 to 1960 he played hockey in BC, Scotland and the USA. Dad was always physically active, and loved his walks and riding his bike. He umpired softball down at Riverside Park, and his loud “strike” could be heard by all. Don was inducted into The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.
Don is survived by his children Karen and Gordon, his grandchildren Katie and Adam, his nephew Steve (Val) and his friends who he liked to see at Tim Hortons. Don was a true Kamloopsian who loved his hockey and a nice cold beer. We will miss you Pa. Rest in Peace. Xoxo
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Don Maione officiating.
