It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Orval Bridges of Merritt, BC, on March 26, 2018 at 83 years of age. Orval was a wonderful and loving dad who will be remembered by his children Jacquie Bridges of Kelowna, BC, and Frank Bridges of Green Bay, WI, as well as 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Orval will be missed by his special companion Vina Richardson. Also left to cherish his memory are Nelson and Kaye Oliver, and Anita Bridges. Orval was predeceased by his loving wife Gayle Bridges, his brother Blaine Bridges, and his parents Melvin and Norva Bridges.

Orval lost his battle with many complications from vascular surgery. He was amazingly caring, and kept a brave face while we felt our hearts break. We will miss his sense of humour, sense of adventure, kindness and most of all his company. He was a kind man who all admire, and thank, for instilling his own qualities in us, and raising us to be the best person we could each be.

Orval worked several jobs in his career, mainly with BC Hydro, retiring in Merritt. Of his many passions and talents were hunting, fishing, spending time with grandchildren, as well as playing and coaching hockey.

There will be a Celebration of Orval’s Life held at a later date. Please stop by to share a story, and enjoy some refreshments. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Theresa at RIH 6 South. Donations in Orval’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
