On November 29, 2024, Brenda Patricia Dley (nee Digby) passed away peacefully with husband, Dev, and daughters Stacie and Kimberly at her side. Brenda spent most of her life in British Columbia. She was born in Victoria and raised in Duncan, as the eldest of three siblings. She attended the University of Victoria and began her teaching career in Lake Cowichan in 1973.
She moved to Kamloops in 1979, and continued teaching elementary school until the birth of her first daughter. Her creativity and caring personality made her popular amongst students and colleagues. Brenda was utterly devoted to her daughters, providing unwavering support for all of their endeavours and achievements. Although she was not an enthusiastic driver, that did not deter her from taking them to all of their events or occasions. Brenda loved those opportunities that brought friends and family together. She passionately planned birthdays and Christmas festivities with her famous baking and cozy spirit. Those were special times and she made sure they left lasting memories.
Brenda was an avid quilter and looked forward to the weekly Wednesday sessions with her dear friends. She was a regular patron of the theatre and symphony, where she shared many moments of close friendship. She enjoyed evening golf in the summer warmth of the Kamloops Golf Club. She loved reading, swimming without getting her hair wet, walking with friends and laughing until she cried. She was inseparable from Rocky, her beloved Havanese pooch. Quiet by nature, Brenda will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and generosity. She was a beautiful soul. She loved her family and treasured her friends.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 43 years Dev, and daughters Kimberly, and Stacie (Marc Douglas), and granddaughters Willa, Brynn, and Zoe; brothers Brian (Joli) and Brad (Andrea) and sister Susan (Don), and mother Patricia Fraser. A celebration of life will be held in Kamloops in the spring of 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C.
