1930 – 2016
We are deeply saddened with the loss of our loving mother Mary Boivin on July 7, 2016 at 85 years of age. She enjoyed many years of good health, with only a decline in health and limited lifestyle over the past five years.
Mary is mourned by her husband Edwin Boivin, daughter & sons, Cynthia (Doug), Wayne (Bev), Brian (Shirley), Eileen (Primo), and Brad, by her grandchildren, Gary (Tasha), Julie (Nick), Devin, Janis, Nicole, Shawn (Desiree), Derek, Bryce (Maggie), Aaron and eleven great-grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Peter and Helen Biedka, brothers, Stan (Evelyn), Edward and brother-in-law Vic Boivn. She is survived by her sister-in-laws Mary Biedka, and Adell (Andy) Templeton as well as brother-in-law Joe Boivin (Barb).
Mary was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1930. The family moved to Chisholm, Alberta in 1932 and later to the Queensborough area of New Westminster, in 1944, where she and Ed married on November 10, 1951, making this her 65th anniversary year. They gave birth to their children in the lower mainland, before moving to Kamloops in 1961.
Mary stayed at home with her children, returning to work after the children were all in school. She then worked out at Tranquille, in various positions before ending her work career as a clerk in federal government.
She enjoyed many outdoor activities, including golf, camping or retreating to the family cabin at Dominic Lake. Ed and Mary celebrated their 25th anniversary with a Caribbean Cruise. After retirement, Ed and Mary travelled across Canada, with their fifth wheel trailer, as well as many areas of the US. Ed and Mary made many friends during their fifth wheel travelling days, including many members in the Good Sam Club.
Mary loved bird watching and shared her passion with her family and other members of the local naturalist club. She volunteered at the church and other local Kamloops Tournament Events.
Prayers will be held for Mary, Wednesday, July 13 at 7pm, with a Funeral Mass to be held on Thursday, July 14, at 11 am, at the OLPH Church, 635 Tranquille Road, Kamloops.
All are welcome to join us in sharing memories at the reception, after mass, in OLPH parish centre, next to the church.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Royal Inland Hospital Foundation.
