1920 – 2016
Hally Bodden passed away in his sleep at the Pine Grove Care Home at age 95.
Hally is survived by his sons, Michael Bodden of Williams Lake, Sandy Bodden of Kamloops, and Ken (Brenda) Bodden of Edmonton; his sister Betty Dillabough of Ashcroft, and three grandchildren, Ralph Bodden of Lethbridge, Sam Bodden of Calgary and Kate (Sean) Weberg of Edmonton, and two great grandsons Christopher and Alexander Bodden. He was predeceased by his wife Jessie, son Ian and sister Doreen Haughton.
Hally was born in Scotland, spent his early years in Argentina on his family’s homestead until his family emigrated to Canada. He worked as a cowboy in the Kamloops Nicola area until becoming a carpenter. Hally was a gifted craftsman who built his home in Kamloops in 1949 and helped to build Mount Paul United Church. He and Jessie lived an active life with a strong attachment to the outdoors, community and church. His passions included gardening, woodworking, rock hounding, making jewelry, hunting and a lot of fishing. Hally had the enviable ability to play music by ear and played multiple instruments. Dad will be missed.
His final years were spent in Pine Grove Care Home where he was cared for by the loving staff. The family wishes to thank these angels who made his last years comfortable. Special thanks also goes to Ernie and Donalda Jamrich.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Mount Paul United Church, 140 Laburnum St. Kamloops.
