BLOWEY, Patricia Marie
Patricia Marie Blowey 91, died peacefully in her sleep at 9:30 p.m. on April 19, 2016 at home in Kamloops, B.C. Present during her final moments were her goddaughter Alexandra and husband Colin and their eldest daughter Kaia Proctor. She will also be fondly missed by her other “grandchildren”, Rhea, Thaelo and Imogen Proctor. Auntie Pat was thoroughly loved by all her adopted family; godchildren Francesca, Peter, Cara, and Martin Ryan, Laurie Rusin, their children and spouses, and Liz and Kevin Ryan who by sharing their children made all her family dreams come true. A genuine Fairy Godmother, Pat travelled the world, often taking her godchildren along for company. She was a dedicated journalist, first as private secretary to Clark Davey, managing editor of the Globe and Mail, and then as a copy taker on the City Desk at The Vancouver Sun who wrote when she retired, “The Velvet Foghorn showed diplomacy, tact, charm and cheer” – a fine tribute to a great lady. Pat was a strong, self-motivated woman, who prided herself in a life-time of discarding many an avid suitor, for her fierce independence during an era when a single woman by choice was nearly unheard of. Pat was born in Kensington on January 10, 1925 and grew up in London, England, braving The Blitz of the Second World War. She was educated at Godolphin & Latymer School for Girls in West London and immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1956. Her memorial will be attended by her cousin Rosemary (nee Hobbs) and family from England, on June 26, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Proctor home: 525 Huxley Place, Kamloops BC V2B 5E6. Please join us. Before she passed, Pat tenderly shared that her memorial shall also be her wedding day to her life-long love “Micky” from London. It is sincerely hoped that this will be the case. Flowers and cards for her memorial may be sent care of the Proctors. info@madewithlove.ca
