Born in Mirror, AB, September 6th, 1928, and passed away on April 20th, 2017 in Kamloops, BC.
Al leaves behind her husband, Jack, after 62 years together, and daughters, Carol, Kathy (Bruce) and Donna (Miran). Also left to mourn are her granddaughters, Sandra (Ryan) and Lisa (Kevin); great grandchildren, Griffin, Ruby, Jackson and Terry, who loved their “Great Banana” and decorated her room with their artwork. There are numerous family and friends who will miss her including a special family in Germany whom she loved to visit and be visited by: Bernard, Mia, Holli, Christa, Lucilla, Jule, Farina, Josephine, Dirk, Louise and Alice. Al was predeceased by her sister, Gwyn Hogue, who she missed dearly as they had shared many adventures together but they can now continue getting into trouble together. We will always remember and admire Al for her sense of humor, her selflessness, her adventurous spirit, her strong sense of family, and her loving and caring nature. Al raised three daughters and enjoyed her job working at a fabric store for years.
In 1972, Jack and Al were returning to North Vancouver from a trip to Prince George where they stopped at the 108 Mile Ranch and had a picnic lunch. They came home the proud owners of a lot that became their full time home in 1985 when they sold the house in North Vancouver and moved to the house on Sepa Lake where they lived until 2014.
For her retirement, Al spent time with her granddaughters, gardening, fishing, camping, sewing, teaching, golfing, entertaining, curling, x-country skiing and travelling. Volunteering was a passion and she set an example that we could all learn from and was very active with Heart & Stroke Foundation, Lioness Club, St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, 108 Property Owners Association, Cariboo Marathon, Mobile Mammogram Screening Van, Crime Stoppers and was always willing to pitch in where there was a need. Al was the driving force behind the South Cariboo Crime Stoppers for 19 years and was recognized in 2013 for her dedication. She was also honoured as 108 Community Citizen of the Year followed by South Cariboo Citizen of the Year.
A Celebration of Al’s life was held April 23, 2017 in Kamloops. Messages can be sent to the family at mac@bcinternet.net
