Betty Lagrandeur

October 13, 1943 — July 4, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved Mom and best friend, Betty Lagrandeur. She is survived by her daughter, Kari, and son-in-law, Greg, who were a cherished part of her life. Betty was predeceased by the love of her life, Dean, who passed away in 2024 after 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Born and raised in southern Alberta to George and Grace Murfin, Betty was surrounded by a large and loving family. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Don (Adeline), sister Delores (Michael), sister Jean, brother Ron, sister Mary (David), and brother Jim (Joanne). She was predeceased by her brother Bob. Betty remained close with many of her nieces, nephews, and extended family throughout her life, cherishing those relationships.

Betty was a vibrant, kind-hearted woman whose beautiful smile and warm personality could brighten any room. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone she met feel welcome and touched countless lives with her genuine kindness, compassion, and infectious laughter.

Betty and Dean made Kamloops their home in 1974, where they built a life together, raised their family, and became valued members of the community. Betty enjoyed a long and rewarding 37-year career with BMO, becoming a familiar and trusted face at both the North Shore and South Shore branches. Even after retiring 12 years ago, she would often run into former clients around town—especially while shopping on the North Shore—and proudly refer to them as “my customers.” The lasting friendships and connections she built throughout her career, as well as through her volunteer work in the community, reflected the genuine care, kindness, and respect she showed everyone she met.

Following Dean’s passing, Betty continued to embrace life with the same strength, optimism, and determination that had always defined her. She remained active by going to the gym four days a week and enjoying her daily walks—first along Schubert Drive and, in recent years, through the Bachelor Heights neighbourhood. Betty had taken up running many years ago and continued to participate in local road races, with her most recent race taking place in Hawaii. She also belonged to several lunch groups, where she looked forward to spending time with lifelong friends. Those gatherings brought her tremendous joy and kept her surrounded by laughter, friendship, and love.

Betty’s kindness, resilience, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the memories we will cherish forever.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in the Rivers Ballroom at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Kamloops, 540 Victoria Street, Kamloops, BC.

Guests are welcome to drop in between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Family stories and memories will be shared beginning at 1:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
