Bellos, Patricia "Trixie" Ethel

Posted Sep 9, 2016 | 2:31 PM

February 9, 1925 – August 27, 2016

After a long and busy life, Trixie, passed away quietly on August 27th with her family and friends by her side. Born to William E. Bassett and Lillian M Hucker in Enfield Lock, Middlesex, England, Feb.9,1925. With her school years cut short by WII she worked first as office staff in a small arms factory and later joined the Women’s Royal Navy and served as a WREN until the end of the war in 1945. During this time she met and married husband Tony who was serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the war in 1946 she was one of 1,090 war brides who sailed to Canada aboard the Aquatania to join their husbands.

The next part of her journey with Tony, took her to Prince George, BC. She quickly adapted to the strange new life which included a walk to the Hospital, February 1st,1947 in minus 52 below weather to deliver daughter Carole. On November 20th,1949 the weather was better when son Peter was born. While in Prince George Mom made many life long friends and there met missionaries from the Mormon Church which would later become important in her life.

In 1953 the family moved to Kamloops and then to the Willow Ranch where she tied on an apron and learned to cook for ranch crews and raise her children plus all the extra pets they accumulated. It was a lonely time until she learned to drive and was able to get to town more often. During this time Mom became busy with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and over time served in many roles whether it was working with youth or making chocolates that helped build the new church. The church and the many friends she made have remained very important through her life. She became interested in Genealogy, helping to establish the church Genealogy lab and later the local Genealogy Society.

In the 60’s the family moved to Knutsford and in 1961 Mom went to work as a sales clerk at the Bay. She valued the friends from that time and their annual get togethers!
In their later life she and Tony traveled to England and Europe to Veteran gatherings and enjoyed several cruises with friends. Mom especially enjoyed her trips to Hawaii with friends Irene and Marg. She also joined the Knutsford Stitch Group and looked forward to Thursdays and visiting with everyone.
She always had a welcoming smile and her door was always open to visitors and friends. She was known for her homemade whole wheat bread, elderberry jam, and apple juice. One Grandson commented if she could have, she would have made ice cream from whole wheat! She was a wonderful Grandmother, and Great-grandmother and she will forever remain in their hearts.

She was predeceased by Husband Tony and Great-grandson Jacob Carroll.
She is survived by daughter Carole Carroll, (Pat Carroll) and son Peter Bellos (Leila). Grandchildren James Carroll (Bonnie), Shawn Carroll (Rita), Cindy Hall (Jordie), Ryan Carroll (Alejandra), Damien Bellos (Natasha), Andrew Bellos, and Chad Bellos. Great-grandchildren Tara Raby, Jaden and Jason Carroll, Alesha and Audry Hall, Anthony, Ben and Max Carroll and Ryker Bellos.
The family wish to thank Dana Levere G.M, Carrie (Rec.) and the staff, at Kamloops Senior Village for their special care of our Mom. Your efforts on her behalf were appreciated. We also would like to thank Dr. Eccleston for being there again, it was comforting to the family.
