December 16, 1933 – April 10, 2026
Born Barbara Bartley in Didsbury, South Manchester County, United Kingdom.
It’s with much sadness that we announce the passing of our mom as we reflect on her life.
Making Canada home after emigrating from England in 1965 with husband Harry, son Tony and daughter Linda, a new life story emerged. Far from the experiences of her childhood years of WWII. Her spirit endured and never dampened.
Barbara was pre-deceased by husband Harry and her brother Ronnie. Survived by her son (Anthony) Tony (Michele), daughter Linda (Brian), granddaughters Keri (Chris), Taryn (Brock), grandsons Brent (Allie), Colin (Kelly), step-grandchildren Shanda and Derek and many great-grandchildren.
Barbara will be remembered by family and friends by the warm relationships and the hugs she so freely gave.
Barbara loved her many beautiful gardens she tended over the years. She had a never-ending knowledge for the names and care needed for all the flowers and shrubs. Sadly, in later years that gift faded but she was always filled with joy by the sight of beautiful flowers.
Barbara had a never-ending energy, aka the Energizer Bunny. Her beauty shone through in her love for ballroom dancing with husband Harry.
Barbara and Harry were married for almost 70 years and spent most of their retirement years in Qualicum Beach. They loved to travel to many beautiful places together. Running races, hiking the moors of Scotland and Ocean cruises…. their love endured.
A life well-travelled… they made many friends along the way.
A hug from Barbara was never forgotten and was always treasured.
Barbara not only cultivated many beautiful gardens but also a beautiful life. Even through some difficult health struggles her spirit is what she would want to shine through for all to remember. Hugs.
All will remember her warmth, resilience and love of life.
You’ll be missed mom, gramma and GG️.
You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Adshead family.
