Audrey Jean Stalmans (Baer)
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, and GG, Audrey Jean Stalmans, on May 22, 2023. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born January 10, 1935, in Duncan, BC and was raised in Delta, BC. She met and married the love of her life, Bert Stalmans, Oct 28, 1955, and started a family together in West Vancouver. The family moved to Penticton in 1971, and owned a variety of businesses including Len Reeve Tire and the Laundry Basket. She was a loving mother who prioritised beach days and creating memories of a happy home for her children. She loved travelling, going for walks, reading, holidays with family, and would never miss an opportunity for ‘wine time’. She was an active member of the Penticton Golf and Country Club. It was always a joke with mom that whenever she was near a bunker her ball would find it and it was always an adventure watching her try to get it out. She also enjoyed time with her girlfriends going for lunch or dinner, and was a proud season ticket holder for the Penticton Vees.
After Bert passed, she decided to move to Kamloops to be closer to her daughter Debbie and her family. While the move to Kamloops was a big change for mom, she sure enjoyed being closer to family and seldom missed an opportunity to watch her great grandchildren’s sporting events.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Bert in 2018. She is survived by her children: Robert Stalmans (Janet), Gail O’Hara (Mark), and Debbie Nicholson (Dean). She leaves four grandchildren: Stephanie Feeney (Matt), Daniel O’Hara (Scott Gillespie), Courtney Penner (Elliot), and Ryan Nicholson (Danielle). Jean also had six great grandchildren whom she absolutely adored: Liam, Jaxon, Brynn, Remy, Kinley, and Shae.
Family was everything to Jean, and she was everything to her family. She will be dearly missed.
There will be no service as per her wishes.
Messages of condolence can be sent to Schoening Funeral Home.
