Heaven gained a true angel when our mother, Anne Loring, passed away peacefully in Kamloops, BC.
Born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Anne was the second youngest of ten children and admired her mother’s strength in raising such a large family primarily on her own — a quality she carried throughout her life. Anne is survived by her loving sons Arthur (Kamloops), Rodney (Fujisawa, Japan), and Terence (Kamloops); sisters Dorothy Piché (Denzil, SK) and Yvonne Dixon (Swift Current, SK); and her loyal Beagle, Coco. She was predeceased by her parents Helen and John Gilchrist, brothers Patrick, Edward, Johnny, and Maurice, and sisters Theresa, Sheila, and Margaret.
After earning her Licensed Practical Nursing designation in Alberta, Anne moved to British Columbia and made her home in Vernon, where she met her husband, Art. In 1985, she made Kamloops home with her three boys, and in 1988 she returned to nursing where she devoted 25 years of compassionate service to patient care at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, primarily on 7 North. A devoted mother, Anne raised her three sons on her own and found pride in purchasing her family home — something she once thought unobtainable.
She loved her simple pleasures: time with her boys, going to the casino, enjoying chicken wings at local establishments with family and friends, and relaxing with Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, the local news, and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays. Anne also enjoyed traveling when opportunities arose, visiting Japan twice, Eleuthera in the Bahamas several times, Ireland to connect with her family roots, and many destinations across Canada and the United States.
Her departure leaves a massive hole in her sons’ and families’ hearts, but knowing she is reunited with her loved ones brings comfort. We look forward to being reunited with her one day. Her kindness, resilience, and unconditional love will be remembered always.
A Celebration of Life BBQ Party will be held on Sat. April 18, 2026, in celebration of her April 15 birthday at her home. All family and friends are welcome. Please email Arthur at info@thefunfactor.ca to RSVP or be reminded of her party, or simply come join us all day to celebrate her life.
