Alfredo Caputo

New

Posted 9 hours ago

June 2, 1932 – February 17, 2026

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Alfredo Caputo announces the passing of their beloved father and Nonno. Surrounded by his family, dad passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2026.

Alfredo was born on June 2, 1932, in Aiello Calabro, Italy, the youngest son of Pietro and Anna Caputo. In February of 1955, he married the love of his life, Fiorina. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.

In 1963, with courage and hope for a better future, Alfredo and Fiorina made the life-changing decision to immigrate to Canada. They made the long journey with their three children Luigina, Peter, and Anna, carrying with them their dreams and determination. Their youngest daughter, Rosie, was later born in Kamloops, completing their family.

Alfredo leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Peter Caputo (Loridana), Anna Harrison (Greg), and Rosie Kirschner (Walt); his grandchildren: Clayton Harrison, Christina Unruh (Caio), Kyla Kirschner (Matthew), Brendan Kirschner, and Lukas Kirschner.

He also leaves to mourn numerous extended family members and nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, Luxembourg and Argentina.

He was predeceased by his parents Pietro and Anna Caputo, his wife Fiorina in 2005, his daughter Luigina in 2013 and his siblings Guerino, Rosaria, Erminia, Almerinda, Maria, Carmela and his half siblings Concetta, Antonio, Luigi and Gennia.

Dad spent most of his working career in Canada at Tolko Forest Products, retiring at 57. Retirement, however, did not mean slowing down. He generously gave his time volunteering at a local soup kitchen, cooking and serving meals and offering kindness to those in need.

One of dad’s greatest joys was his garden. Gardening season was his favourite time of year. He could often be found tending carefully to his plants, ensuring a plentiful harvest of vegetables to share with family, friends, and neighbours. His garden was not just a place of work it was a place of pride and generosity.

Above all, family was the centre of his world. Time spent with his children and grandchildren brought him immense happiness. Coffee visits at Tim Hortons or McDonald’s were simple pleasures he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved wandering the dollar store with his granddaughter Kyla and cheering from the stands as his grandson’s played hockey. These everyday moments meant everything to him.

Dad was a quiet man whose actions spoke loudly. He taught us the value of hard work, humility, and putting family first. His legacy is one of resilience, faith, generosity, and deep devotion to those he loved.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A private family entombment will follow at Evergreen Mausoleum. Friends are warmly invited to join the family afterward to celebrate Alfredo’s life in the OLPH School Gym.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alfredo Caputo may be made to the Kamloops Hospice Association or the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation.

We will miss him deeply, but we are grateful for the example he has set and the love he gave so freely.

Riposa in pace, papa. Sarai sempre nel nostro cuore

You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Caputo family.
