August 23, 1939 – March 1, 2021
Albert Jensen went to be with his Lord at the Merritt Hospital on the morning of March 1, 2021 with his common law wife Debbie holding his hand.
Al, as known to all who knew him, was born in Burnaby. He was the youngest son of Christopher and Teresa Jensen. Older brothers Raymond and George. Al grew up there and made a life and career in Vancouver where he owned his own cab business.
He moved to the Cariboo around 1990 where his brother George lived with his wife Jean on the 108 Mile Ranch. Al built a small house on Hansen Court which he sold when he met Audrey and they married and made their home in Quesnel where Al took his realtor license, sold realty for Century 21 and drove cab for a living.
Al’s pastime was his computer – he was very savvy. He should have been a computer tech, he was always helping others over the phone with something. Through our memories Al always seemed to have a video camera rolling. He could be remembered for his eccentric story telling. Friday nights around the kitchen table he would play cards with his buddy Ian and go yard selling with him on Saturdays to find treasures for the grandchildren to fill up the garage, bicycles mainly.
Al had a green thumb and the yard was always immaculate, flowers planted just so. Fishing and camping with family and friends was also high on his list. Mind you, going to the beach for Al was like watching paint dry.
In 2007 Al moved to Merritt to make a fresh start with Debbie and there they made a home together along with Carmel his beloved shih Tzu and Fred, Barney and Bam Bam, their three cats. They spent a lot of time making the yard beautiful with flowers and a garden, and fishing every chance they could on Nicola Lake.
Al had a quiet patience, he was a kind soul. He was truly one of a kind. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving common law wife Debbie, his brother George, two children Melanie and Allan. Dear friend Audrey, four stepchildren, Shane, Debbie, Sheryl and Lee-Ann (and their spouses). Thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and four great nieces and nephews.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal!
