UPDATE: Crews making progress on knocking down Tranquille grass fire
KAMLOOPS — Fire crews in Kamloops are responding to a grass fire west of the city.
Smoke can be seen coming from the Tranquille Creek area and several fire engines responded.
Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Capt. Mike Haines says the call came in just before 3:00 p.m., and the fire is roughly four to five acres.
“We responded with a bush truck and a water tender, and once they were on scene they realized we needed some more man power so we had two more bush trucks out there and another water tender,” Haines says. “So right now we have 12 KFR personnel on scene and we have… 10 members from BC Forest Service helping out too.”
