KAMLOOPS — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who was allegedly part of a robbery-turned-kidnapping last week.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release that Robert James Rennie is wanted for assault causing bodily harm.

On Feb. 14, two men were robbed and a woman was kidnapped in Kamloops. Through the investigation, Shelkie says, police have identified suspects who are believed to have been involved in the incident.

Rennie is from Kamloops and is believed to still be in the area. He’s previously known to police and is known to be involved in the local drug trade.

Rennie is described as white, 31 years old, 6’1″ tall, 160 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

Earlier today, the Southeast District Emergency Response team in conjunction with Kamloops RCMP made an arrest at a home on Brandon Avenue.

Michael James Mathieson, 36, was arrested and charged with robbery, forcible confinement and firearm offences. Police also arrested another man last week in connection to the case.

Mathieson is from Kamloops and was previously known to police.

“Officers are aggressively working on all investigations. Reducing organized crime is a top priority for Kamloops RCMP,” Shelkie says.
