KAMLOOPS — It’s been a year and a half since drug kingpin Konaam Shirzad was shot and killed outside of his Kamloops home.

Since then, several high-profile incidents have occurred across the city, most of which is related to the organized crime and local drug trade. Some high-profile incidents that have happened over the past year don’t always include violence, but police have seized massive amounts of weapons in that time.

The most recent violent incident occured this past Friday (Feb. 15), when two people were shot in the Brocklehurst neighbourhood of Kamloops.

Since then, RCMP have confirmed one person died from his injuries, and he’s been identified as Jason Glover.

This is the city’s third homicide in just two months, after two men were killed in separate shootings at different hotels in Kamloops. Earlier today, Kamloops RCMP said they were looking at the death of 41-year-old Rex Gill as a possible case of mistaken identity, while they’ve confirmed the other victim from that day, Cody Mathieu, had been known to police previously.

In a news release today, police said much of this activity has taken place since the homicide of Troy Gold in October of last year. He was a well-known criminal and was reported as a high-risk missing person before being found dead.

But tensions were also high after Shirzad’s homicide. Here’s a look at some high-profile incidents since then:
