KAMLOOPS — Downtown is expected to be a flurry of activity with the Fulton & Company Welcome Winter Block Party this afternoon (Dec. 8).

Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association Executive Director Carl DeSantis says this gathering will feature more than just the food and drinks coming with BrewLoops.

“Activities including hockey, street-hockey. Who doesn’t love Hockey? That’ll be fun for families, for kids, for adults,” He says, “We’ve got some art displays going on, and then of course theres music, lots of music. A variety of DJ’s are going to be playing throughout our day.”

The event is not only aimed at giving people a fun afternoon, DeSantis says its also trying to bring more visitors to the city’s core.

“We’re always looking for ways to celebrate our downtown and encourage people to come downtown, and this is just one more way to celebrate,” DeSantis explains, “A year ago, we introduced the winter block party, and that was a success as well. So the feedback we keep hearing from our community is ‘lets do this again, and lets do it bigger and better’, and that’s exactly what we’re going to be doing.

The by-donation entry event runs along Victoria Street from 3rd Avenue until 4th Avenue from 12 p.m – 6 p.m today, with the rest of downtown remaining open after the celebration wraps up.

“We just want everybody to come down and really enjoy the day,” DeSantis adds, “And of course, dress for the weather. Its going to be a little bit cool, but it is a Welcome Winter Block Party after all.”
