Kamloops seniors in need of Snow Angels
KAMLOOPS — More than 100 seniors have already signed up for the city’s Snow Angels program, but more than half of them still need help this winter.
Taylor Rae is the Link Coordinator with Volunteer Kamloops, and she says about half of the seniors who have signed up to get their driveways and walkways shoveled this winter have been partnered with a Snow Angel.
“As the season progresses we do get more people on the list,” Rae says, pointing out that more volunteers are needed. “Right now our most in need areas are Westsyde and the North Shore, that’s where most of our seniors are coming from and that’s usually an area we have a hard time finding volunteers for.”
Volunteers who sign up for the Snow Angel program are partnered with a nearby senior. Once there’s a major snowfall, volunteers have a 24-hour window to shovel their senior’s walkway and driveway.
