VICTORIA — Speeds will be rolled back 10 kilometres per hour across some B.C. highways, but the Coquihalla will remain the same.

Transportation Minister Claire Trevena says 15 sections of highway will have lower speed limits in order to keep people safer and reduce the chance of speed-related collisions.

Sections of the Trans Canada Highway will be reduced from 100 kilometres per hour to 90 kilometres per hour, including Tobiano to Savona and Chase to Sorrento. Highway 97C, the Okanagan Connector, from Merritt to Aspen Grove will be reduced from 110 kilometres per hour to 100 kilometres per hour. The rest of the connector from Aspen Grove to Peachland will be decreased from 120 kilometres per hour to 110.

Speed limits will remain the same on Highway 1 from Salmon Arm to Revelstoke, Highway 3 from Hope to the Coquihalla, Highway 5 from Hope to Kamloops, and Highway 5 from Heffley to Little Fort.
