Police investigating car that matches hit and run suspect vehicle

KAMLOOPS — Days after a fatal hit and run incident in downtown Kamloops, police are inspecting at least one car that matches the suspect vehicle’s description.

Earlier this week, Kamloops RCMP released surveillance footage of a silver Dodge Neon they believe was connected to a crash on Seymour Street that led to a 48-year-old man dying.

The car didn’t stop at the scene, and a cab driver called 911 after they came across the injured man in the roadway.

On Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, a silver Dodge Neon could be seen being lifted by a tow truck and being inspected by RCMP members in the area of Columbia Street and 11th Avenue, across from Prince Charles Park.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie confirms this is part of the investigation into the fatal incident.

“We are investigating some vehicles to do with the hit and run that occurred earlier this week, but at this time we can’t confirm that the suspect vehicle has been seized, and if anyone has any tips for us we are still welcoming tips,” Shelkie says.

If you know anything about the incident or the vehicle, call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
