RCMP surround downtown townhouse complex

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: Neighbours say the police tape has been taken down.

#kamloops rcmp have taken down tape across First Ave. Between St. Paul and Battle. Counted at least eight police vehicles and an ambulance there tonight.

EARLIER: RCMP surrounded a townhouse complex late Tuesday, but aren’t saying why.

Neighbours say officers arrived in force at the complex near First Avenue and Battle Street mid-afternoon Tuesday.

Around 5:30, police cordoned off roads in the area, rerouting traffic.

RCMP have yet to explain what they are doing at the scene, or how long the situation is expected to last.
