KAMLOOPS — Apartment starts continue to drive construction activity in Kamloops.

New numbers released today by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) reveal there have been 725 housing starts through August, compared to 268 starts through August last year.

Senior Officer of Media Relations Len Catling notes multi-family starts represent the bulk of those starts, including 119 in August (compared to just five in August 2017) and 486 since the start of the year (compared to just 10 through August 2017).

And though construction generally slows down as winter approaches, he expects a strong finish to the year in Kamloops.
