Smoke delays grand opening of TRU’s Industrial Training and Technology Centre

KAMLOOPS — Smoke is continuing to pose a challenge for events planned in Kamloops. 

Due to issues with air travel, the grand opening of the Industrial Training and Technology Centre at TRU has been postponed. 

Federal and provincial dignitaries, as well as students, faculty and staff were planning to join Monday’s celebration, which will be rescheduled at a later date. 

TRU Vice-President of Marketing and Communications Lucille Gnanasihamany says anyone who wishes to see the new building is still welcome. 

“The actual launch event and the celebratory event is postponed,” Gnanasihamany said. “If anyone does show up we will be happy to give them a tour of the centre, but the actual event with the representatives from the provincial and federal government and other dignitaries will be postponed until the smoke clears.”
