KAMLOOPS — Traffic is moving between Savona and Cache Creek on Highway 1 west of Kamloops – slowly after a mudslide blocked the Trans Canada late Saturday night.

The highway was reopened to single lane alternating traffic shortly before noon on Sunday, but because of the amount of debris on the surface of the road, BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure staff on-scene cannot confirm when the route will be completely reopened.

A number of other slides throughout the region are also causing problems for motorists. A slide near Spences Bridge has closed the Trans Canada Highway south of Cache Creek, while another slide near Clinton has blocked the highway to the north.
