Blazers send Jackson Shepard to Lethbridge for 19 year old Zane Franklin
KAMLOOP — Kamloops Blazers General Manager Matt Bardsley has announced a trade as the Blazers have acquired 19-year-old forward Zane Franklin and a 4th round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for 18-year-old forward Jackson Shepard.
Franklin comes to the Blazers after spending the past two seasons with the Hurricanes. Last season, the Marwayne, AB product had 14 goals, 24 assists and 38 points in 67 games. He was also an Assistant Captain with the Hurricanes.
The 5’10” and 182lb right shot forward was originally a second round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft by the Hurricanes. He has played 137 WHL games and totalled 54 points.
“We are excited to add Zane to the Kamloops Blazers organization,” said Bardsley. “He is a highly competitive player with strong puck skills and a good sense for the game. He nearly tripled his point production last year from his 17-year-old season and he also brings 30 games of playoff experience, which will be important to our team this year. Along with Zane we acquired a 4th round pick in 2020 which will be valuable to us in the future.”
