Police recover major cache of stolen property

KAMLOOPS — Police made a big haul when they investigated a local motel room.

On Tuesday, police began an investigation into stolen property being stored at a Kamloops Motel.

In a news release, Staff Sergeant Ed Preto says during the investigation, a stolen ATV was recovered and two persons were arrested at the motel room. 

A search warrant was obtained and a further search of the room turned up two firearms, one was a rifle, and the other was sawed off shotgun that was loaded. 

Some drugs were seized, including a quantity of hard drugs.

Preto says over $40,000 of stolen property was recovered in all,  including 8 Kayaks, a $7000 mountain bike, construction tools, and other items.

A 41-year old Kamloops man was in court yesterday and has been remanded into custody.
