KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the South Thompson, Nicola, Shuswap and 100 Mile House areas.

The national forecaster says a vigorous cold front is expected to sweep across the Interior on Friday bringing with it gusts of up to 60 kilometres per hour in the afternoon and gusts of up to 70 or more Friday evening.

As a result, boaters are encouraged to revisit their boating plans says Environment Canada Meteorologist Lisa Erven.

“We’re recommending that boaters pay attention to their local forecast and the special weather statement for any updates that come in between now and Friday evening and be prepared for strong and gusty winds.”
