Hot weather prompts warning for those with heat issues

KAMLOOPS — Heat warnings through much of the Interior for the next couple of days have health officials warning those who have difficulty with the heat to take precautions.

Heat warnings are in effect for the Cariboo and Fraser Canyon regions, and special weather statements about hot weather for most of the other areas of the province, including parts of the Lower Mainland.

Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-thirties in the Kamloops area, and low thirties in the Cariboo. While things will taper off a bit towards the weekend, temperatures will still be in the danger area for those with heat-related illnesses.

If you have problems with the hot weather, stay indoors, preferably in an air-conditioned room, and stay hydrated. If you have friends, relatives, or neighbours who might be compromised, check on them to make sure they are okay.
