Land Conservancy working to protect the Clearwater Wildlife Corridor
VANCOUVER — A group working to protect vulnerable lands in British Columbia says members of The Land Conservancy of B-C have donated thousands of dollars to protect the Clearwater Wildlife Corridor.
A news release from The Land Conservancy of B-C says 61-thousand dollars has been donated and will go toward protecting four hectares of wildlife corridor in the Clearwater River Valley.
The corridor will connect two southern lobes of Wells Gray Provincial Park, meaning deer, moose, cougar, bobcat, grizzly, wolves and coyotes will no longer have to cross private lands while migrating between winter and summer ranges.
The conservancy says it is still working to find the final 39-thousand dollars of the purchase price but hopes to have that raised — and the land protected — by the end of this year. (The Canadian Press)
