KAMLOOPS — Though it caused some tense moments in Campbell Creek Monday, a one-hectare wildfire in the area is now under control and in the mop-up stage.

“It’s received sufficient suppression action to ensure no further spread,” says Marla Catherall, communications assistant with the BC Wildfire Serivce. “Yesterday there were 26 crew members who responded and today there are 19 firefighters on site.”

She says no one was injured in the blaze and no structures were destroyed.

And though it hasn’t been confirmed, Catherall says the fire is believed to have been human-caused which she admits is unfortunate.
