Blazers lose, eliminated from playoff contention

KAMLOOPS — The Blazers are officially out of the playoff picture after a 4-2 loss to the Kelowna Rockets.

It started with Marek Skvrne scoring a shorthanded breakaway goal for the Rockets 5:59 into the first period. At 6:59 of the second  a Blazers turnover lead to a 3-on-0 Kelowna breakaway and Carsen Twarynski would finish it with his 43rd of the season.

Later in second Orrin Centazzo was interfered with on a breakaway, which lead to a penalty shot. Centazzo made good on it to cut Kelowna's lead to 2-1, but penalties were a killer to the Blazers, with the Rockets getting seven power plays on the night.

Dillon Dube scored on a 5-on-4 to make it 3-1 Kelowna.

The Blazers were still in it late in the third, down by two, but with two and a half minutes left Kole Lind drove in the dagger to make it 4-1.

The Rockets took back-to-back delay of game penalties and with Dylan Ferguson on the bench and six seconds remaining, Nolan Kneen scored, but the damage had been done and the Rockets win 4-2. With four games left Kamloops is 11 points behind the second and final wild card.
