VICTORIA — As of next year, British Columbia’s Family Day will fall in line with February holidays in much of the rest of Canada.

Premier John Horgan has announced next Monday will be the last B.C. Family Day held on the second Monday of February, with the holiday shifting to the third Monday of the month starting in February of 2019.

The former B.C. Liberal government instituted Family Day as the second Monday of February starting in 2013, saying it would help ski resorts divide up business between British Columbians and tourists from outside of the province.

But Horgan says the change will be better for businesses and for families who are spread out across the country.
