Flu outbreak in full swing

VANCOUVER —   Flu season is in full force in B-C and officials say it’s expected to get worse.

Island Health says four long term care facilities — one in Victoria and three in Nanaimo-Parksville — have been hit with an influenza outbreak.

Medical health officer Doctor Paul Hasselback says part of the problem is that there are two types of strains spreading at the same time.

He says anyone who is sick is asked not to visit hospitals or long term care facilities to help prevent the spread.
