Kettle Campaign nearing completion, $83K short of goal

KAMLOOPS — This year’s Salvation Army Kettle Campaign is nearing its end, but it’s still short of reaching the $200,000 fundraising goal.

The Kettle Campaign raises money for all of the Salvation Army’s programs and services throughout the year.

Last year the campaign raised just under $175,000.

This year the drive was slow to attract volunteers. While the Salvation Army is anticipating a surge of generosity in the last week, donations are down from last year.

“We’ve had a lot of volunteers sign up, which is wonderful,” said Kettle Campaign coordinator Christine Kirby. “We’ve had really good coverage. We are short from last year’s total so far. If you look day-to-day we’re about $10,000 short. Today’s total I just got was $117,000.”

The Kettle Campaign will continue until 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
