Council to discuss KGHM-Ajax today

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Council is likely to have the KGHM-Ajax mine front and centre today as they determine what options they might have in dealing with a new report from the Environmental Assessment Office that basically ignores many of the concerns expressed by Council over the mine.

The report, released last week, indicated that while there may be some issues affecting the use of Jacko Lake by First Nations, there likely wasn’t going to be much impact on Kamloops.

The report kicked off a two month public comment period.

The City had expressed opposition to the mine, but are expressing more concern now that some of the issues they expected to be discussed were totally ignored in the report.
