CLEARWATER, B.C. — B.C. wildfire crews are taking no chances on a new wildfire burning 13 kilometres southwest of Clearwater, in the Lemieux Creek area.

Fire Information Officer Justine Hunse says smoke from this fire is visible from Highway 5 north, but it is not considered an interface fire.

“We have crews and air tankers actioning the fire right now, and we also have helicopters en route,” said Hunse. “The nearest structures to that fire are approximately three kilometres away, but are not considered to be threatened at this time.”

The fire is relatively small in size, estimated at four hectares.
