KAMLOOPS — Kamloops SPCA’s first thrift store is officially open.

A grand opening was held at the store’s location at 634 Victoria Street Saturday morning.

SPCA Volunteer Bonnie McBride says the store is one of 13 in B.C.

“These thrift stores have been a part of the SPCA provincial program for a long time,” said McBridge. “They raise over $100,000 a year in total for the SPCA so we’re excited to be bringing the program to Kamloops.”

Along with second-hand items, McBride says the store is going to offer regular classes where people can learn how to to repurpose everyday items.

Partial proceeds from the store and classes will go towards the BC SPCA.

Revenue will also go towards the Kamloops SPCA medical fund and the building of a new shelter near the Kamloops Airport that’s scheduled to begin in August.

Store donations can be dropped off at the new downtown location or at the Kamloops SPCA shelter at 1211 8th Street.
